Appeal a parking charge

Have you received a parking charge or parking sanction?
Here you will find information about what it means and how you can submit an appeal.

What does the charge concern?

There are two main types of parking charges:

Parking charge

A parking charge is issued for violations of the traffic regulations or signage regulations, for example parking in violation of a parking prohibition.

The parking charge is:

NOK 900.

Parking sanction

A parking sanction is issued for breaches of parking conditions, for example failure to pay or parking in a reserved space.

A parking sanction may be:

NOK 330 / NOK 660 / NOK 990.

Who can appeal?

The owner or driver of the vehicle may submit an appeal if you believe the charge has been issued incorrectly.

You may also request remission if there are special circumstances.

The charge must be paid before the due date even if you submit an appeal.

Deadline for appeal

You must submit your appeal within three weeks after receiving the charge.

Appeals submitted after the deadline may only be considered if:

  • You cannot be blamed for the delay, or
  • There are special circumstances that make it reasonable to consider the appeal.

Important information before you appeal

Hammerfest Parkering KF processes appeals in accordance with the Parking Regulations and the Regulation on Public Parking Charges.

The following circumstances will normally not result in a successful appeal:

  • Other parking spaces were full
  • You were only away for a short time
  • You did not see the sign
  • You selected the wrong vehicle in the parking app
  • You forgot to display a ticket or permit
  • Your parking time expired during a medical appointment or meeting

Each appeal is assessed individually.

How to submit an appeal

If you have received a charge and believe it is incorrect, you may submit an appeal in one of the following ways:

Digital appeal

Appeals can be submitted via an external portal.

You must have your vehicle registration number and case number available.

You may also submit an appeal by post to:

A written appeal must include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Case number
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Any relevant documentation (photos, permits, etc.)
